Youth Arts New Zealand is a youth organisation seeking to humanise and interconnect New Zealand’s arts facilities, organisations and young creatives.
History[]
Youth Arts New Zealand was founded on the 13th of December 2017 after Matthew Bellingham produced 'The Thing About Music' featuring Avalanche City and realised he wanted to empower young people beyond single events.[1]
The organisation holds monthly creative open mic nights, held at creative hub MoveSpace on Dominion Rd;[2] as well as holding "Strange Summer Streets", teaming up with Britomart Group and Play It Strange to produce a weekly summer event, showcasing young musicians every Saturday afternoon in Britomart's Takutai Square.[2]
On the 19th of January 2019, Bellingham and Harrison Sugrue formed Neglect Music with Cameron Mason McCurdy of Blu Fish.[3]
