Alex Thompson is a rapper, producer, and sound engineer from Blockhouse Bay, West Auckland.
History[]
AT. & Kids & 0600 (2014-2016)[]
Thompson began rapping and producing music with the help of Nesian Mystik's David Atai through the Crescendo Trust of Aotearoa. He began learning how to produce his own music through his uncle's pirated copy of FL Studio, and also began learning sound engineering from Vivek Gabriel at ZEAL West - in the same course as collaborators Cameron Mason McCurdy and Ruben Mita.
Thompson put out his first EP Kids & 0600 on the 19th of December 2015 under the stage name AT., shortly after playing his first set with Mason McCurdy on live drums at the ZEAL Summer Slams festival. alongside Iris G, Joe Says No & Altered Blondes.[1] Thompson put out the single, Ain't, on the 11th of February 2016, featuring unreleased older songs as the B-sides.[2]
Name change & singles (2016-2017)[]
On the 24th of September 2016, Thompson without acknowledgement changed his rap moniker from AT. to Mr•O6OO and released the single "RTTR".[3]
For Thompson's birthday on the 28th of January 2017, he released the single "Nevrland".[4]
Lost Guidance & Shments (2017-2019)[]
During 2017, Thompson produced Mason McCurdy's debut album Roof City Staring, before they lost the files. Thompson's debut album Lost Guidance was released on the 5th of October 2018, the lead single "Escalate" received airplay on Mai FM.[5]
After finishing his album, Thompson produced Blu Fish's EP Shments,[6] performing at their R18 release show at Anthology K Road with his cousin Reid Ulberg DJ-ing and Mason McCurdy on drums.[7]
Dream Deprivation & Deadbeat (2020-Present)[]
On the 25th of January 2019, Thompson debuted two new songs live on 95bFM's Fancy New Band, where he also revealed that he and Ulberg had weaseled their way into playing live at Rhythm & Vines over the New Year while working there as sound engineers.[8] On the 28th of January, Thompson released his second full-length album, Dream Deprivation.
Thompson joined the DnB/Hip-hop fusion project of drummer Deadbeat. Thompson features as Mr•O6OO, as well as writing the project's lyrics.
