Lost Guidance is the debut album by West Auckland rapper Mr•O6OO. Self-released on the 5th of October 2018. This is Thompson's first official release after changing from his original AT. moniker.
Background[]
While tracks such as "Quiet" and "Melodrama" were completed in 2016 and 2017, the creation of the album didn't become Thompson's priority until after he left his second year studying sound engineering at MAINZ.
"Escalate" was released as a single on the 23rd of May 2018, before the album's completion. The single received attention on Mai FM where Thompson explained it was "A song about social media".[1]
Lost Guidance initially took the form of a mixtape merged into a single track on Thompson's Soundcloud account; this version had a shorter track listing (not including "White Boy", "No Problems", "Invisible", "Numb" and "Burns") and included an alternate version of "45Hz".
Recording[]
The album was recorded, mixed and mastered entirely on FL Studio by Thompson in his bedroom home studio, using only one microphone, a two-track interface and his old laptop; aside from "Escalate", "Lost Guidance" and "Attention" which were mastered by Keegan Meiring. The album took around one year to finish, Thompson revealed in an interview for 95bFM's Fancy New Band.[2]
