History[]

Formation (2013)[]

The band formed on the 28th of December 2013, with Lucy Eldby as the original bassist. The name came from guitarist Joe Curtis refusing the other members' band name ideas.[1]

All-ages scene & Smokefree Rockquest (2014-2016)[]

The band played many gigs within the Auckland all-ages scene from 2014 to 2015. They were known for their intense and energetic stage performance, notably frontman Kelemete's erratic behaviour and crowd engagement.[2] Notable gigs include the ZEAL Festival of Noise,[3] the AGEOLD 2015 Festival,[4] and the Messed Up 2015 Festival.[5]

On the 16th of January 2015, the band announced that Eldby had left the band to form sludge metal outfit Slumbug.[6] Jin Yun was announced as her replacement and played his first gig with the band that April at the Old Folks Association.[7]

The band released the single Burnt Toast[8] on the 16th of June 2015, and the single Japan Sk8 Kid[9] on the 1st of October 2015.

The band was one of the Smokefree Rockquest 2015 national finalists and trashed the stage during their performance.[2][10] The band's song Do Ya was released on the SFRQ 2016 promo CD.[11]

Final show & Joe Says No (2016)[]

The band played their final show on the 18th of June 2016, releasing their eponymously named 6-track EP Joe Says No[12] with support from Host Club, Courtney Hate and Altered Blondes.[13]

Other projects (2016-Present)[]

Yun and Ollie Curtis formed alternative rock band Diddy's Kong Quest from 2016 to 2018. Ollie formed the art rock solo project Curtains in 2017. Joe, Broughton, and Ollie formed noise band Piss Pals in 2018. Kelemete formed the funk outfit The Wonder Cats in 2018.
